COLUMBUS, Ind. – The latest information provided by the Bartholomew County Health Department shows that 110 residents have been confirmed with COVID-19. Of the 796 tests received, 534 have come back negative, and another 105 tests are still pending. Four Bartholomew County residents have died from the disease.
As of Sunday, Indiana had almost 8000 Coronavirus cases, as law enforcement and emergency personnel prepare for an expected surge this week. After reporting last week an inmate and a corrections officer tested positive for the virus, Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers is meeting with other sheriffs to discuss the situation.
Last Monday, Gov. Eric Holcomb passed new orders to slow the virus including stopping churches from holding worship services and extending Indiana’s stay-at-home order until at least April 20, at 11:59 p.m. The Indiana State Department of Health reports over 340 Hoosier deaths from COVID-19.
