FRANKLIN, Ind. – The city of Franklin has received a $23,334 grant from Duke Energy Foundation to create a more powerful community in the Young’s Creek Amphitheater area of Franklin.
A total of 19 organizations in Indiana collectively were awarded $235,000 in nature-oriented grants from the Duke Energy Foundation. The Young’s Creek Mitigation and Restoration Project is bringing back the functionality of an area that has been lost to years of development and natural destruction. The project develops a natural wildlife habitat in Franklin that can be accessed by new trails and green space in the downtown area.
Mayor Barnett stated, “This restoration project will complement the amenities and amphitheater planned for the area. It will entail site work on the bank to prevent erosion, and the plantings of trees, plants, and grasses to bring back the natural habitat and make the area safe for the pedestrian trail.”
