COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested for DUI by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) on Wednesday after he reportedly rammed his truck into two cars.
Officers responded to the area of Jonesville Road and County Road 200S, at around 8:50 p.m. They spoke to a witness who supposedly advised that the driver, Jason Ballard, 45, of Columbus, rear-ended a car at the intersection. The suspect reportedly fled the scene and then crashed into another vehicle on Jonesville Road.
When CPD spoke with Ballard, officers say they thought his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He was given a portable breath test and allegedly provided a sample of .277%.
After being transported to Columbus Regional Health for a blood draw, Ballard was later placed under arrest and remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
