COLUMBUS, Ind. – Our Hospice of South Central Indiana announced Monday that it is offering a bereavement camp for kids on Saturday, September 18, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., at Columbus Youth Camp. Children between the ages of 5 and 12, who have experienced the death of a significant someone in their lives, are welcome to attend.
Camp Eva provides a structured and supportive environment for children to openly share their feelings and memories of their loved one.
Registration is open now and is required by September 4. For more information, call David Dopson at 812-314-8096 or email him at wdopson@crh.org.
This year, parents/adults will be offered a separate workshop for education and support during the time their children are participating in activities. They will be able to learn about children’s grief, have time to process their own grief with other adults, and receive one-on-one time with counselors.
Camp Eva was started by Melissa Clark, a volunteer at Our Hospice, in 2016. Since 2017, Our Hospice has partnered to grow the camp and provide this important outlet to children in our communities.
Our Hospice President, Laura Leonard, said, “We are so pleased to be able to provide bereavement services to children and grateful to our donors who provide the funds for this important camp.”
