COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two local people were busted on drug charges after their car was pulled over by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) early Wednesday morning.
Shortly after midnight, officers initiated a traffic stop on US 31 near Lowell Road on a vehicle operated by Calvin Watkins, 50, of Columbus. After speaking to the driver and his passenger, Abigail Clemans, 23, of Columbus, they summoned a police dog. The K-9 supposedly alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the car.
CPD allegedly located methamphetamine concealed in the driver’s clothing and also found meth and drug-related items inside the vehicle close to the area where the passenger was seated. The pair was taken into custody and transported to Bartholomew County Jail.
Watkins was charged with possession of meth, possession of a legend drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clemans was booked for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
