SEYMOUR, Ind. – A traffic stop by the Indiana State Police (ISP), on I-65 near Seymour on Monday, led to the discovery of drugs, guns, and money. Two Indiana residents were taken into custody on numerous charges.
The incident began around noon when troopers pulled over a car on northbound I-65, near the 48 mile-marker just south of the Seymour exit, for multiple traffic violations. During the stop, officers suspected that criminal activity was taking place, so a K9 was deployed. Supposedly, the police dog alerted to drugs inside the car.
A search allegedly turned up 1.6 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, three handguns, drug-related items, and about $2,000.
Patrick J. Doornbos, 36, and Amber L. Balser, 30, both of Monticello, were arrested for dealing meth, possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
ISP says Doornbos was also charged with possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon. Balser was additionally charged with possession of a handgun after being a convicted felon. Both suspects were transported to the Jackson County Jail.
