SEYMOUR, Ind. – Two suspects were arrested on numerous charges after fleeing from the Indiana State Police (ISP) on I-65 early Friday morning.
A trooper pulled over Jaguar on I-65 in Jackson County, just south of Seymour, for a traffic violation at about 2 a.m. During questioning, the officer says he observed indicators of criminal behavior in the vehicle.
The driver, Lavonte, C. Conn, 28, of Milwaukee, requested an ambulance for the passenger, Aundrea L. Rodgers, 23, of Montgomery, Alabama, so the ISP trooper called for an ambulance and also more police assistance.
While waiting for backup, the car took off at a high rate of speed, south on I-65, and entered Scott County. The Jaguar eventually struck a tire deflation device and crashed near the 27-mile marker. Both occupants were arrested and taken to Jackson County Jail.
Conn was charged with resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a handgun without a permit, and obstruction of justice.
Rodgers was booked for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an out-of-state warrant.
