COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Council voted Monday evening to install Greg Duke as president and Matt Miller as Vice President.
The county’s Republican Party chose Duke, a sheriff’s office retiree, to serve the rest of Laura DeDominic’s council term after she took a county government position.
In other business, the council approved the appropriation of $330,000 from the state’s Workforce Supplemental School Liaison Grant to fund staff and information technology needs. Health Department director of nursing Amanda Organist indicated her desire to hire three people, ideally with nursing degrees.
The council also approved $350,000 for the highway department to buy a new chip seal spreader, as well as $114,000 from an Indiana Court Services grant for a coordinator-position salary and other functions for Family Recovery Court.
