INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts fired head coach Frank Reich Monday, naming Ring of Honor member and former Colts Center Jeff Saturday as interim head coach.
Saturday, who most recently served as an ESPN analyst, was a six-time Pro-Bowler who played 13 years for the Colts from 1999-2011. The unusual move to go outside of the current staff to name an interim coach is accentuated by the fact that Saturday has little coaching experience. In three years as head coach of Hebron Christian Academy, a high school in Dacula, Georgia, Saturday’s teams were 20-16.
Reich was 40-33-1 in five years with the Colts where coached a revolving door of quarterbacks after Andrew Luck retired in 2019. His teams made the playoffs in 2018 and 2020 but never won the AFC South.
