SEYMOUR, Ind. – Two Floyd County residents were taken into custody after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit through three counties on Saturday afternoon.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) said that at about 3 p.m., the Seymour Police Department responded to the Home Depot in Seymour regarding a possible attempted theft. Officers arrived as the suspects fled in a U-Haul box truck.
Police tried to stop the vehicle as it merged onto I-65 South. ISP troopers and other law enforcement agencies joined the chase. In southern Jackson County, the suspect, Chance L. Money, 36, of New Albany, drove the U-Haul through the median and continued south in the northbound lanes of I-65, into oncoming traffic.
At mile marker 34, in northern Scott County, the suspect then allegedly drove through the median toward a trooper who fired at least one round from his handgun at the vehicle. Neither the driver nor his passenger, Jessica N. Holliday, age 36, of New Albany, were struck or injured.
Money crossed back onto southbound I-65 and continued into Clark County. The truck finally stopped on I-65 near the 9-mile marker, at Sellersburg. The duo was arrested without further incident.
Marijuana and drug-related items were also supposedly found in the truck.
Money was charged with invasion of privacy, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and a Clark County warrant. Holliday was booked for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and a Clark County warrant.
