GREENWOOD, Ind. – A detective with the Indiana State Police (ISP) took two Ohio residents into custody on Friday after shots were fired at a car on I-65.
Dispatchers received an emergency 911 call at about 11:15 a.m. regarding shots being fired on northbound I-65, near the 97-mile marker at Worthville Road. The victim was able to provide a good description of the car from which the shots allegedly originated.
An ISP detective happened to be on I-65 in an unmarked vehicle near the location of the call and identified the suspect car on I-65 northbound at the 107-mile marker. He followed the vehicle until other troopers caught up and together they pulled over the suspect. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
The preliminary investigation determined the driver supposedly fired shots at the occupants of the victim’s car. There were no injuries reported, however, investigators found damage consistent with bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle. A Johnson County judge granted a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle and a handgun and marijuana were allegedly found inside.
The driver, 24-year-old Nasier Johnson, of Lorain, Ohio, was charged with Criminal Recklessness, Intimidation, and Possession of Marijuana. The passenger, 20-year-old Armani Crooks of Lorain, Ohio, was booked for Possession of Marijuana. Both suspects were taken to the Johnson County Jail.
