SEYMOUR, Ind. – Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuse invites you to take a step back in time to Indiana’s pioneer days and experience the history and natural beauty of Southern Indiana. Presented by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, Log Cabin Day is Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Refuge near Seymour.
The day’s family-friendly activities take place at the Myers Family Cabin and Barn, honoring the people who made this property and neighboring areas their homes so many years ago in the late 1800s.
Enjoy all the day’s free activities including old–time entertainment, storytelling, a Myers Cabin tour, pioneer demonstrations, children’s activities, shuttle rides to the Refuge’s closed area, and Chore–Corral, where kids try chores from yesteryear. There will also be a complimentary ham and bean lunch, home-cooked on an open fire with homemade cornbread.
Log Cabin Day occurs during National Wildlife Refuge Week, from October 8 to October 14, when visitors can explore the Refuge’s hiking trails, bird-watch, and enjoy spectacular fall colors, along with visiting the Nature Center and Bookstore/Gift Shop.
