COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a Kentucky man on a felony charge after a pipe bomb was located inside a vehicle on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the 700 block of 13th Street at around noon and found what appeared to be a pipe bomb in the car. The CPD Bomb Squad was then summoned.
The 1300 blocks of Sycamore and Pearl Streets were closed off for a few hours while members of the Bomb Squad assessed and removed the device. It was then escorted by public safety personnel to an off-site location where it was safely detonated.
As a result of the investigation, CPD officers arrested Jorden L. Perry, 32, of Whitley City, Kentucky. Perry was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on a preliminary charge of Possession of a Destructive Device (Level 5 Felony).
Law enforcement says the incident remains under investigation.
