JACKSON COUNTY – A traffic stop by Indiana State Police (ISP) on I-65 in Jackson County on Tuesday led to the arrest of three men from Louisville when a large quantity of suspected fentanyl was found.
The incident began when a trooper pulled over a car on northbound I-65 near the 48-mile marker, just south of Seymour. During the stop, ISP determined that the three men inside might have illegal drugs.
A backseat passenger, Alonzo Dixon, 28, fled on foot across all lanes of I-65. A deputy from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and an off-duty Clark County deputy were able to catch him and place him into custody.
During a vehicle search, police allegedly located a bag suspected of containing nearly 200 pills believed to contain fentanyl. The driver of the vehicle, Landon Pearl, 18, was supposedly found to have pills containing a controlled substance on his person. A third occupant, Devon Peach, 30, was wanted on a parole warrant out of Kentucky.
All three men were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail on preliminary felony charges of Dealing a Narcotic Drug and Possession of over 28 grams of a Narcotic Drug.
Dixon was additionally arrested on a charge of Resisting Law Enforcement. Peach faces an additional felony charge of Neglect of a Dependent due to an eight-month-old juvenile being in the vehicle. Peach was also being held on his warrant out of Kentucky.
Child Protective Services responded to the scene to take custody of the small child.
