FRANKLIN/COLUMBUS, Ind. – Financial aid professionals will be volunteering to help college-bound students and their families get financial aid during College Goal Sunday this Sunday, February 25, from 2 to 4 p.m., at IU Columbus and Ivy Tech Community College in Franklin.
College Goal Sunday is a free program that assists Indiana students in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is required to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships, and federal student loans at most colleges, universities, and vocational/technical schools nationwide.
The FAFSA form must be filed by April 15 to be eligible for Indiana financial aid.
Many families perceive the form to be too complicated and time-consuming to complete. In less than one afternoon during College Goal Sunday, students and families can get free help and file the form.
Students should attend College Goal Sunday with their parents, and parents should bring their completed IRS 1040 tax returns, W-2 Forms, and other income and benefits information. High schoolers who worked should also bring their income information.
Seniors attending College Goal Sunday could win one of five $1,000 educational prizes.
Receive free one-on-one FAFSA help from financial aid experts on College Goal Sunday this Sunday, at 2 p.m., at Ivy Tech Franklin, 2205 McClain Dr., and at IU Columbus, 4601 Central Ave. For more info, visit collegegoalsunday.org.
