FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College Omicron Xi chapter of the Order of Omega, a national honor society for upperclassmen of Greek life, initiated 18 new members in a recent ceremony on campus.
Greek life has a strong tradition at the college. The Indiana Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity became the first social fraternity chartered at Franklin College in 1860, just 26 years after the college was founded. The Greek community at the college is celebrating its 165th year. Nearly a third of all Franklin College students are members of a fraternity or sorority.
Membership in the Order of Omega is extended to the top 3% of Greek leaders. Members are chosen based on their leadership skills, campus involvement, volunteer hours, and academic achievement. The Omicron Xi chapter has initiated more than 200 leaders since its chartering in 1995.
