COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Area Arts Council (CAAC) invites the community to the grand opening of the Arts Alley Parklet this Friday, June 6, from 6 to 10 p.m. This one-night-only celebration will unveil the 6th Street Arts Alley as a reimagined pedestrian-only pocket park.
Located on 6th Street between Washington and Franklin Streets, the Arts Alley Parklet has been redesigned with a new ground mural, colorful furniture, shady gathering spots, free public Wi-Fi, and upgraded electrical access to support concerts and vendors.
Community involvement was integral in transforming the alley. Volunteers registered to paint one unique line at a time in the new ground mural.
This kickoff event isn’t just a party, it’s a fundraiser that finances free arts programming in the Arts Alley Parklet throughout the year. Proceeds from the event support live music and performance, local artist programming, teen-focused arts engagement, and community events in the Arts Alley Parklet.
This CAAC event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit artsincolumbus.org/arts-alley, call 812-376-2539, or email info@artsincolumbus.org.
