COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) announced Sunday evening that the county’s travel status will remain at “Watch Level” (Orange) through Monday morning.
State and city streets are generally in decent condition; however, any wet roadways are expected to refreeze overnight. County roads are in fair condition in some areas, but drifting snow and icy spots continue to be an issue in others.
Drivers should use caution and adjust travel plans as needed.
BCEM reminds motorists that extremely low temperatures reduce the effectiveness of road treatments such as salt and make snow removal, especially packed snow, more difficult.
Even after roads are cleared, they may remain slick and hazardous. Use caution and limit travel when possible.
The “Watch Level” travel status will be re-evaluated in the morning to determine if a downgrade is possible.
