COLUMBUS, Ind. – The COVID-19 Community Task Force in Bartholomew County sent a letter to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb on Monday asking for the mask mandate to continue across the state. It is set to expire soon.
“On behalf of our community, the undersigned representatives of the COVID-19 Community Task Force of Bartholomew County encourage you to continue with an official extension of the statewide face-covering requirement, as outlined in your previous executive orders. Indiana stands at a crucial point in how our beautiful state continues to weather the brutal storm of this pandemic,” the letter read.
Columbus Regional Health has been able to maintain a steady response to the virus, schools have been able to open in a timely manner, and daily hospitalizations related to COVID-19 have remained in single digits for more than 40 days. This was the information the task force used as evidence in their letter, explaining why face coverings have helped the state fight coronavirus.
