COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District is holding an Earth Day event on Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Columbus-Bartholomew Recycling Center, at 720 S. Mapleton St.
Bartholomew County residents can bring two refrigerant-containing appliances, two gas grill propane tanks, and four personal vehicle tires without rims to dispose of free of charge. Businesses or out-of-county residents are not eligible for this free service. Televisions and computer monitors are $20 each.
In addition, you can get one pick-up-sized scoop of mulch or compost loaded for free from 8 a.m. to noon. Document shredding will be available from 9 to 11 a.m., in residential quantities only. A hot dog roast is planned from 11 to 1. Children’s activities, educational displays, and giveaways are also scheduled.
