VERNON, Ind. — Perceptions Yoga, Mindfulness, and Art invites the public to its next art exhibition in Vernon, titled “Ravens Galore” featuring the work of Barb Ison.
The opening reception is on Sunday, October 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Ison’s work will then be on display and sale for the entire month of October. This group of new paintings has never been on exhibit.
Barb is a retired art teacher from Jennings County High School. Born in “the hills” of Kentucky, she has called North Vernon her home for 50 years. She has exhibited artworks in Madison and locally at the Perfect Day Cafe.
“It is so much fun and gives me a reason to paint and hit deadlines. Every image has the potential to become an artwork. Recognizing this makes you an artist. We see, we feel, then we create,” said Ison.
“My paintings are not photographs, I let the good times roll,” she said. The texture of the work is something that she emphasizes.
Besides trees, she also likes to paint ravens. Nature is the underlying motif in most of her paintings.
The opening of this show will take place at Perceptions, located at 139 East State Road 3, in Vernon, across from the Jennings County Courthouse. Everyone is welcome. The closing will be on Friday, October 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Galleries will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during October from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
