COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested after he reportedly tried to choke a woman during an argument at a Columbus pharmacy on Monday afternoon.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to the Kroger Pharmacy located at 3060 N. National Rd., shortly after 5 p.m. When officers arrived, they spoke with a woman who advised that she was being helped at the pharmacy counter when a man approached her and became argumentative because he thought she cut in line.
Steven M. Ebert, 65, of Columbus, allegedly grabbed the woman by her throat. The incident was broken up by bystanders. CPD spoke with witnesses, reviewed security video footage of the incident, and then arrested the suspect at the scene.
Ebert was transported to Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the preliminary charge of Strangulation (Level 6 Felony).
