INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced this week that the January unemployment rates for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jennings, and Jackson counties were higher than in December.
For Bartholomew County, the January rate was 4.5%, up from December’s 3.9%. The county reported 38,144 employed residents out of a 39,958-person labor force.
Johnson County’s January rate was 3.8%, an increase from 3.3% in December. Employed workers totaled 85,542 from a possible 88,956.
Jackson County recorded a January unemployment rate of 3.8%, above the 3.5% registered last month. The county reported 22,687 employed residents out of a 23,590-person labor force.
The Jennings County rate for January was 5.3%, higher than 4.3% in December. There were 14,438 workers out of a possible 15,240.
Indiana DWD officials announced earlier this week that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for January was 4.5%, up from 4.0% in December.
