Ohio woman arrested after driving the wrong way on I-74

DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind.  – Indiana State Police (ISP) officers arrested a Cincinnati, Ohio woman after she drove intoxicated westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 in Dearborn County on Sunday morning, August 17.

Multiple troopers patrolling on I-74 overheard a Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office dispatch of a 2020 Toyota Camry, later determined to be driven by Erin Dowers, age 35, Cincinnati, Ohio, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 near the Indiana/Ohio State Line. Trp. Weigel positioned his police vehicle in front of Dowers’ vehicle. She entered the median of I-74 to avoid Trp. Weigel’s vehicle. Trp. Weigel’s vehicle and Dowers’ vehicle collided at a slow speed. Dowers continued westbound past Trp. Weigel. Trp. Jordan Hartmann then assisted in getting her to stop.

After an investigation, it was determined that Erin Dowers was intoxicated. She was arrested and transported to the Dearborn County Jail where she was incarcerated on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
