COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) held a public hearing on Thursday afternoon to take testimony regarding the upcoming collective bargaining of salary, wages, and fringe benefits.
The Indiana state legislature passed a statute in 2019 requiring several public meetings during the negotiations process. Formal negotiations begin September 15.
“Count Day” is Friday, September 18. The school corporation will then know how many students are enrolled in the system and can anticipate how much revenue will be coming in.
When a tentative agreement is reached, BCSC and the Columbus Educators Association must hold a tentative agreement meeting. And 72 hours later, the two sides must hold a ratification meeting.
By November 15, all relevant documents must be in the hands of the state government.
No one from the public came to Thursday’s meeting to offer comments.
