COLUMBUS, Ind. - Three Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) Deputies, Sgt. Andy Whipker, Sgt. Dustin Newland and K9 Deputy Dylan Prather were heroes to an elderly couple this past weekend during the height of the snowstorm.
The couple called dispatch and told the operator that the furnace in their home had stopped working. They said they had a secondary wood-burning furnace, but the wood was in the barn, and they couldn't get to it because of all the snow.
The BCSO deputies helped by going to the barn and transporting the wood to the house.
Sheriff Chris Lane said, "I would like to recognize these deputies. This is going above and beyond to serve the citizens of Bartholomew County."
