COLUMBUS, Ind. - UPDATE ( Sunday at 1:15 p.m.) - Columbus City Utilities has canceled the Boil Water Advisory for the Candlelight Village and Cedar Ridge subdivisions.
Original: (5:10 p.m. on Thursday) - A water main break near Rocky Ford Road has forced the City of Columbus and Columbus City Utilities (CCU) to issue a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for Candlelight Village and Cedar Ridge Subdivision.
In consultation with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, it has been determined that water customers should boil their drinking water. This precautionary measure is necessary due to a shutdown associated with the repair of a water main in the area.
All customers affected will receive notice before and upon completion of the testing.
Affected customers are asked to boil cooking and drinking water for 3-5 minutes until notified that the water has passed laboratory testing. They will be notified when the order is lifted.
The Columbus Police Department closed Rocky Ford Road, between Middle Road and Candlelight Drive, due to the water main break. Parts of Middle Road near Rocky Ford Road were also closed on Thursday afternoon.
