COLUMBUS, Ind. - Columbus Parks and Recreation has launched a new Strategic Master Plan to guide the city’s parks, recreation, and overall quality of life. Building on the success of the 2022 Master Plan, this new initiative establishes a forward-thinking vision for the city’s green spaces.

The effort includes dedicated master plans for two major local landmarks, Donner Park and Mill Race Park, aiming to evolve these areas while honoring their historical character and unique public role.

The City of Columbus is collaborating with planning experts from Next Practice Partners, SmithGroup, and the ETC Institute to ensure an inclusive, research-backed process.

Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback at upcoming public input sessions:

  • Mill Race Park Session: Wednesday, Sept. 9, 5–7 p.m. at NexusPark.
  • Donner Park Session: Thursday, Sept. 10, 6–8 p.m. at the Donner Center.

Community participation is vital to shaping the future of these essential public spaces. More information on the planning process and opportunities to participate is available at www.imagineyourcolumbusparks.com.
