COLUMBUS, Ind. - Columbus Regional Health has announced it has received recognition for Primary Stroke Certification from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
Certification is a process through which healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. ACHC certification reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.
Primary Stroke Certification is awarded every three years. This certification provides a framework to continue to improve patient outcomes that align with CHR's commitment to a higher standard of clinical services.
Being recognized as a Primary Stroke Center means the hospital not only provides standard stroke care, but also uses the clot-busting medication (if the patient meets eligibility) to provide the best possible outcomes.
To obtain the certification, the Stroke Team at CRH underwent rigorous onsite reviews, observations, and interviews. An ACHC surveyor evaluated CRH's compliance with the certification standards.
The standards included: stroke program management, delivering and facilitating clinical care, and performance measures. This achievement signifies that the service CRH provides has the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes.
