Don Fischer's IU Sports documentary debuts this Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - For over five decades, Don Fischer has been synonymous with Indiana University athletics. He has narrated the defining moments of Hoosier sports history. Now, his career is the subject of a new Indiana Public Media documentary, "Timeless: Don Fischer’s Half-Century Broadcasting IU Sports." 

Set to premiere on WTIU on August 28 at 6:30 p.m., the film captures Fischer’s evolution into the iconic "Voice of the Hoosiers." Producers utilized a treasure trove of archival footage, historic radio calls, and personal interviews to explore the deep bond between the broadcaster and generations of fans.    

Before the statewide broadcast, fans can experience a special sneak-peek screening on August 27 at 7 p.m. inside the legendary Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. It is a fitting venue for a tribute to a career that unfolded largely within those very walls.   

The celebration continues throughout September as Indiana Public Media hosts a series of free community screenings across the state, including stops in Columbus at YES Cinema on September 2 at 6 p.m., and in Nashville at the Brown County Public Library on September 15 at 6 p.m.
