Flood Watch issued for local counties

SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis announced on Saturday morning that there is a Flood Watch in effect for south-central Indiana from Sunday afternoon, June 21, until 8 a.m. on Monday, June 22.

Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Shelby, and Decatur Counties are included in the Watch, along with several other central and southern Indiana Counties.

Flooding, caused by excessive rainfall, is possible this weekend. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying, flood-prone locations.

During the Flood Watch period, NWS predicts rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.
