COLUMBUS, Ind. – River Valley Legal Aid Pro Bono Indiana presents another free Legal Aid Phone Clinic for low-income residents of its eight-county district on Tuesday, May 12, from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
The district includes Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Brown, Decatur, Rush, and Shelby Counties.
The Legal Aid and Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer attorneys offering advice free legal consultations to low-income individuals, furthering equal access to justice within our community. Individuals can expect to receive a brief consultation or advice over the phone.
Individuals seeking legal consultation must register by calling Legal Aid at 812-378-0358 on Tuesday, May 12, from noon to 2 p.m. A volunteer attorney will return calls to registered individuals between 3 p.m. and 5:30 pm.
Participants will receive free legal advice on civil legal matters, including advance directives, family law (child support modification, custody, divorce, and parenting time), guardianships, landlord-tenant issues (evictions and habitability), powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills, and small estates.
Questions on criminal law will not be entertained.
