COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Regional Health (CRH) has observed an increase in respiratory viral infections (RSV, COVID, and Influenza) in both Bartholomew County and among hospital inpatients. Due to this recent uptick and to better protect patients, employees, visitors, and the community, CRH will begin implementing visitation restrictions on the hospital campus.

Effective Monday, December 29, visits will be limited to individuals 18 years of age and older. Also, patients will be allowed only two visitors at a time. Visitors may rotate in most cases, although special exceptions may apply depending on patient circumstances or unit/department requirements.

The following safety guidelines will also be implemented:

  • Visitors having symptoms suggestive of illness (including, but not limited to: cough, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, diarrhea, tiredness, headache, or vomiting) will not be allowed to visit and will be respectfully asked to leave
  • Visitors may be asked to wear a mask in patient rooms
  • Birthing Center and Pediatrics/Women and Children’s (for restrictions, click here)
  • Visitation amendments may be made in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of unit leadership

Visitation hours will remain unchanged. CRH thanks you for your patience and understanding as officials continue to monitor patient volumes to ensure the hospital maintains the safest environment for its patients and staff.
