Water main flushing in Edinburgh starts on Oct. 5

EDINBURGH, Ind. - The Edinburgh Municipal Utilities will begin flushing water mains at 7:30 a.m. on October 5 and continue through October 16.

Customers may experience some discoloration in their water during this operation. If this happens at your residence or business, run a slow stream of cold water until the discoloration disappears.

Usually, five to ten minutes will alleviate the problem. If the discoloration persists, call the Edinburgh Utilities office at 812-526-3514, option 5.

To reduce the risk of staining your clothing, Edinburgh Utilities does not recommend washing "whites" during the day. Other light colors could also be affected. While the flushing program is active, it is safer to wash these colors after 7 p.m.
