MOORESVILLE, Ind. - Shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday, the Bargersville Fire Department was dispatched to the 5000 block of East Orchard Road near Mooresville to assist the Madison Township Fire Department at a reported apartment fire.
First-arriving crews found flames showing from the roof and upgraded the incident to a working fire.
As storms moved through the area, a tree limb brought down power lines onto the roof, damaging a utility pole and causing arcing wires from a light pole. That chain of events led to a small blaze in the attic of the apartment building.
Everyone inside was able to evacuate safely, and no residents were injured. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and has since been released.
Crews had the fire under control in roughly one hour.
