COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) arrested a Columbus man after an alleged battery on Saturday, October 10.
Deputies were notified of a possible battery involving a firearm in the 3200 block of Charwood Drive on October 10 at around 3:45 a.m. They interviewed the victim at a different location and observed visible injuries to the victim’s head, back, and torso.
During the investigation, BCSO learned the victim had gone to the area to repay a debt. Upon arrival, the suspect supposedly initiated a physical altercation with the victim and reportedly instructed the victim to get into his vehicle while pointing a handgun at him.
The victim left the area and contacted local law enforcement. Deputies responded to the Charwood Drive address to locate the suspect, but could not find him. Officers identified the suspect as Colin Spaeth, 25, of Columbus. BCSO then went to an apartment building in the area and found Spaeth.
He was taken into custody and remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following charges:
- Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Battery Causing Injury
Spaeth remains in custody on bond.
