COLUMBUS, Ind. — Several sections of the Columbus People Trail system are temporarily closed as of Wednesday morning following excessive rainfall and flooding in low‐lying areas.
City officials are urging residents to avoid any trail areas where water is present. Even shallow flooding can conceal hazards such as debris, unstable ground, or swift currents. Parks and Recreation crews will begin clearing mud, debris, and other obstructions once water levels recede. Impacted trail segments will reopen only after staff determines they are safe for public use.
Updates on trail conditions will be provided as cleanup progresses.
