COLUMBUS, Ind. — The City of Columbus is accepting bids for a new municipal utility vehicle following approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety at its September 15 meeting.

The board approved a notice to bidders for a 2027 single-axle chipper truck with snowplow options. The city’s approved 2026 budget is funding the vehicle. It will replace an aging unit currently in the municipal fleet.

In addition to fleet updates, city officials noted that preparations are underway for an upcoming public auction to clear out surplus city property, scheduled for later this fall.

Qualified vendors interested in submitting proposals for the equipment contract can access bidding guidelines through the city engineering and public works offices.
