EDINBURGH, Ind. — The Edinburgh Town Council approved a formal letter of support during its September 14 meeting for the newly formed Pixy Forever Foundation to help purchase, restore, and reopen the historic Pixy Theater in downtown Edinburgh.
Jeremy VanAndel, a Franklin College professor and founder of the non-profit organization, presented the foundation's vision alongside representatives from the Johnson County Community Foundation and the Historic Artcraft Theatre in Franklin.
The Pixy Forever Foundation aims to finalize the building's acquisition by late October. Once open, plans call for a mixed-use community venue featuring classic and contemporary films, live music, community theater, workshops, and private rentals.
Representatives noted that establishing a cultural anchor in downtown Edinburgh will boost local foot traffic and support surrounding small businesses, restaurants, and shops.
