Greenwood Common Council approves re-zoning for $50M Buc-ee's Travel Center

GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Greenwood Common Council approved re-zoning approximately 80.15 acres on the southeast corner of Interstate 65 and Worthsville Road to accommodate a new Buc-ee's travel center on Monday, September 21.

The vote passed 7-2 following a presentation by representatives of Buc-ee's and public comment from residents and school leaders. Council members Gibson, Campbell, Hill, Hopper, Lexi, Manship, and Haga voted in favor, while two members opposed the petition.

The proposed 74,000-square-foot travel center represents a $50 million investment and is expected to employ between 175 and 225 people with an annual payroll of about $9 million.

In addition, Buc-ee's plans to fund between $13 million and $14 million in local infrastructure and traffic improvements, including a new roundabout at Worthsville Road and Collins Road, turn lane additions, and ramp storage extensions along I-65.
