ISP trooper helps disoriented elderly driver reunite with family

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana State Police (ISP) received several 9-1-1 calls last week, reporting a reckless driver heading south on I-65 in Jackson County.

Trooper Tia Hunt of ISP-Versailles Post was patrolling in the area and was able to locate the vehicle in the southern part of the county.

She was eventually able to get the vehicle to stop on I-65 in northern Scott County. When making contact with the driver, she realized that the elderly man was disoriented and confused.

He stated he was traveling home to Lafayette (100 miles in the opposite direction).

Hunt searched his emergency contact information and eventually contacted his wife and son through the BMV.

She transported him to a local hospital for evaluation while waiting for the family to get there. The elderly man was medically cleared and reunited with his family.
