FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that on or after Tuesday, April 21, crews will temporarily close West Jefferson Street at U.S. 31.

The closure, part of Phase 3 of the current U.S. 31 corridor improvement project, is necessary to complete storm drain installation.

The maintenance is expected to take up to four days, weather permitting.

This work is part of a $66.2 million intersection improvement contract awarded to Milestone in February 2025. The overall project is anticipated to be finished in 2028. Additional information about the overall project can be found on the INDOT Southeast webpage.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near construction zones. All work schedules are subject to change.
