Jennings County pair busted for drugs, burglary

NORTH VERNON, Ind. - A traffic stop in North Vernon led to a significant drug bust and the resolution of an unreported burglary on August 13.

NORTH VERNON, Ind. - A traffic stop in North Vernon led to a significant drug bust and the resolution of an unreported burglary on August 13.

Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Deputy Owen Miller stopped a vehicle after observing a traffic infraction. Suspecting criminal activity, Miller requested assistance from K-9 Deputy Tyler Campbell and his partner, Hurley.   

Following a K-9 alert, a search uncovered methamphetamine. Passenger Trinity Bennett allegedly revealed she was concealing contraband, leading to the discovery of hypodermic needles and approximately 2.5 grams of suspected Fentanyl at the jail.

Further investigation linked Bennett and the driver, Shane Kimbler, to a recent residence burglary in North Vernon, with stolen items recovered from their vehicle.    

Both suspects were remanded to the Jennings County Jail. The JCSO investigation remains ongoing, and suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
