SEYMOUR, Ind. – A 100-foot American flagpole will soon stand along West Tipton Street following the Seymour Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approving the measure at its Tuesday, August 25, meeting.

The variance allows Rose Acre Farms, Inc. to erect the structure at 1657 W. Tipton St., exceeding the standard 45-foot commercial height limit.

Company representatives requested the permanent installation after receiving overwhelming public support, including from honking train conductors and truckers, and positive social media feedback, for a temporary flag displayed over the July 4th holiday.

Local officials confirmed the structure will not interfere with flight paths at Freeman Field, and the board approved the petition 5-0.
