Bargersville Fire Department helps rescue kayakers on White River at Waverly Park

BARGERSVILLE, Ind. - The Bargersville Fire Department was dispatched to the White River near Waverly Park in Morgan County on Thursday afternoon when four kayakers became stranded after encountering a log jam.

Bargersville crews deployed department drones to quickly locate the stranded boaters from the air while providing real-time guidance to rescuers on the water. Green Township Fire Department, Martinsville Fire Department, and Paragon Fire Department launched watercraft to access the group.

Once contact was made, Paragon Fire Department’s Airboat 171 safely transported the kayakers back to the Waverly Park boat ramp. All four kayakers were evaluated by Medic 202. No injuries were reported.

This incident required a coordinated response between multiple public safety agencies, including the Green Township Fire Department, Martinsville Fire Department, Brown Township Fire Department, Paragon Fire Department, Morgan County EMS, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Mooresville Police Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers, and Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch.
