FRANKLIN, Ind. - Franklin College is hosting events featuring its art and music majors this month. Two chamber concerts are set for April 14 and 16, and a senior art exhibition reception is set for Monday, April 20.
Featuring a variety of works from five senior art majors, the art exhibition includes the work of three students from Johnson County and will be held in the Elba L. and Gene Portteus Branigin Atrium of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts, at the corner of Branigin Boulevard and Grizzly Drive.
The event on April 20 begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Here are the three Johnson County seniors presenting their art:
- Hanna Jackson, of Greenwood, is an art studio and graphic design major
- Gabi Sherry, of Franklin, is an art studio/history major
- Kendra Shirrel, of Greenwood, is majoring in art studio/pre-art therapy
Franklin College Music Department students will perform two free concerts open to the public. Each begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Clarence E. and Inez R. Custer Theatre in Old Main.
The Vocal Chamber Concert, on Tuesday, April 14, will feature the students of Eric DeForest, D.M.A., assistant professor of music and director of vocal choral activities, and Devyn Kerr, M.M., lecturer of music. Chang Shen will accompany the performers on piano.
The Instrumental Chamber Concert, on Thursday, April 16, will be performed by the students of Josh Torres, M.M., lecturer of music; Jonathan Rice, D.M.A., lecturer of music theory and applied woodwinds; and Randy Greenwell, band director and head of brass studio.
