Johnson County Library/Franklin Parks & Rec host ‘The Longest Table’ community event on Sept. 4

FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Johnson County Public Library (JCPL) and Franklin Parks and Recreation invite residents to "The Longest Table" on Friday, Sept. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater at Youngs Creek Park in downtown Franklin.

Part of JCPL’s local America 250 celebrations, the event brings community members together for a shared meal to foster conversation, build new friendships, and reflect on the community's future.

The event is hosted in partnership with Greenwood Public Library and Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Public Library.

“My hope is that attendees meet new people and connect with others in their community by sharing interesting personal stories,” said Kelly Staten, JCPL Programming Manager.

To spark dialogue, volunteer table leaders will provide discussion prompts focused on community, history, and personal traditions.

Check-in for The Longest Table begins at 5 p.m., featuring live music from the Greater Greenwood Community Band as guests arrive. The shared meal and conversation start at 6 p.m.

Greek’s Pizzeria in Franklin will provide the dinner. CommUnity Matters, a local library initiative dedicated to bringing volunteers together to enhance how people live, work, and play in Johnson County, is funding the meal.
