WHITELAND, Ind. - Phase I of a total reconstruction project of the intersection of Whiteland Road and Glidden Boulevard starts on or after Wednesday, April 1, and will continue through mid-July.

Crossroads Engineers, of Beech Grove, is the development consulting firm handling the project, and officials say it will include:

  • Converting the stop-controlled intersection to a modern single-lane roundabout
  • New intersection lighting and landscape features
  • New asphalt, concrete pavement, curb, and storm sewers

Utility relocations have already taken place at this intersection.

Whiteland Road will be closed west of Bob Glidden, and there will be no access to Glidden Blvd. or I-65 from the west via Whiteland Road. All access to Bob Glidden Boulevard and the interstate will occur from the east.

All dates are weather-dependent. During construction, both local and truck detours will be implemented.
