Schneck recognized as gold level 'Safe Sitter' provider

SEYMOUR, Ind. - Schneck Medical Center recently announced that it has been named a 2025 Gold Level "Safe Sitter" Provider, a national recognition honoring excellence in delivering high‑quality, medically accurate, and developmentally appropriate babysitting and safety education for youth.

The Gold Level designation is awarded to organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to the Safe Sitter mission, equipping young teens with the life and safety skills they need to provide safe childcare. Providers receiving this honor consistently meet high standards in instructor training, course delivery, and community impact.    

“Being recognized as a Gold Level Safe Sitter Provider reflects the dedication of our instructors and the enthusiasm of the young people we serve,” said Carrie Moore, RN, BSN, CMSRN, Manager of In-Patient Adult Medical Surgical and Pediatrics at Schneck. “We are committed to preparing teens with the skills and confidence they need to keep themselves and the children they care for safe.”    

Schneck has offered Safe Sitter programming for over 35 years, helping hundreds of middle‑school‑aged students learn essential skills such as:

  • Safety and injury prevention
  • Basic first aid and rescue skills
  • Child behavior management
  • Caregiving techniques for infants and children
  • Life and business skills to prepare for babysitting responsibilities

Safe Sitter, Inc., a national nonprofit organization founded in 1980, partners with hospitals, schools, and civic organizations across the country to deliver medically accurate, instructor‑led courses that teach young teens how to responsibly care for younger children.
